Medical Student Award
What is it?
Recognizes a medical student who demonstrates commitment to women’s health and potential for a successful future in obstetrics and gynecology. Awardees are chosen by the CLESOG Executive Council.
Who is eligible?
Current 4th year medical students at a Cleveland or Akron area medical school (DO or MD) planning to pursue residency in OB/GYN or another field focusing on women’s health.
What is the Award Amount?
$500 and a reward certificate
When is it Awarded?
The recipient of the award will be notified in October 2024 so the honor can be noted on their residency applications. The award will be formally announced at a future CLESOG educational meeting, usually either January or March. All students who have applied will be invited to attend the meeting at no charge, and the recipient be called up to receive the award when it is announced.
Application Elements and Submission
Applications should be emailed to clesog@gmail.com prior to September 1st 2026.
Required Elements
Nomination letter from your clerkship director or clerkship department chair
Letter of recommendation from another physician who can speak about your skills and commitment as they relate to women’s health
Documentation that you passed USMLE Step 1
1,000 word limit personal statement highlighting how you align with the goals of the award
